Pneumonia
Cases of Unknown Origin in
Argentina
.
The cases are linked to
a single private clinic
in the city of
San Miguel de Tucumán
, located in the northwest part of the country.
Symptoms have
included fever, muscle and abdominal pain and shortness of breath
. Several patients had pneumonia in both lungs.
Three people have
died and several others in Argentina
have become sick after developing
pneumonia with no clear cause.
WHO
and PAHO have been following up on these reports and are providing support to
Argentinian health authorities.
Not all patients with
pneumonia
have the same
clinical features
, these can vary.
Argentina
has lots of experience in
investigating and managing outbreaks
of severe acute respiratory illness.
Pneumonia
is very rarely actually diagnosed down to which
specific microbe
is causing it.
